Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Foundation Complex |
| An
amalgamation of traditional and modern
architectural styles, the Yayasan Complex,
as it is locally known, is one of the
capital's most pupular shopping venues.
Paved with cooling, polished granite
around the central fountain, the Yayasan
Complex's colonnaded walkway offers picturesque
views of the Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien
Mosque to the west and Kampung Ayer to
the east.
The shopping complex was opened in
July 1996, and features designer-goods
boutiques, department store shopping and
fine-dining venues.
The Yayasan Complex is a project of
His Majesty to generate revenue for a
foundation dedicated to the welfare of
the Bruneian people. |

| The
Brunei Museum |
| On
the banks of the Brunei River, about 6.5km
from the heart of Bandar, stretches the
elongated shape of the Brunei Museum.
art documenting the origins of much of
Brunei's culture. From thier softly lit
niches, illuminated intricate renderings
of the Holy Quran and centuries-old glassware,
ceramics, jewellery, tapestries and military
artefacts bear silent witness to the artisans'
skill and devotion.
Visiting hours: Saturday to Thursday:
9:30am - 5pm
Friday: 9am - 11:30am & 2:30pm

| Jame'
Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque |
| Built
to commemorate the 25th anniversary of
His Majesty the Sultan's reign, this mosque
is the largest and arguably the most magnificent
in Brunei.
With its intricately ornamented minarels
and shimmering golden domes clearly visible
along the main route into town from the
airport, the Kiarong Mosque (as it is
locally known) towers over landscaped
terrain dotted with fountains.
Visiting hours:
Sunday to Wednesday: 8am-12pm, 2pm-3pm
& 5pm-6pm
The mosque is closed to non-Muslims
on Thursday. It is open on Saturday provided
that there is no official function the
following day. |

| Bukit
Shahbandar Forest Recreational Park |
| This
popular recreational park, along the Muara-Tutong
highway, is about 20 minutes drive from
the capital, It is set in 70ha of undulating
landscape providing a challenge for even
the most dedicated joggers, hikers and
bikers. An observation tower gives a bird's
eye view over the whole terrain. |
